Nowadays, many people protect their skin from sun. Because the sun damage leads to hyper pigmentation, that is brown spots which can develop into serious skin disease. Excessive exposure can also accelerate the development of thicken fine lines.

Moreover, working in the sun for longer hours may also increase the chances of development of Skin Cancer. But it has been known that if a person protects his/her skin from the sun then the chance of getting skin cancer will be lower. Generally, sunburns and suntans are the signs that show that the skin has been damaged. Such damage increases the risk of getting skin cancer.

Sun Care Products

The person should stay out of the sun, if he/she can, at least between 10 am to 4 pm. It is because at this time the sun is strongest.

Person should wear sunglasses to protect the eyes from sun. Generally, sun exposure increases the risk of getting cataracts.

Person should also wear a long-sleeved shirt and long pants, in order to protect their skin from the sun. Shirts should be made from tightly woven cloth, like long sleeved cotton t-shirts. Person’s clothing should fit loosely, as he will feel cooler in loose fitting dresses. There are various sun protective clothes available in the market various well-known companies.

Person should wear a wide-brimmed hat. Wide-brimmed hats help in protecting the person’s face, neck and ears from the sun. The best hat to wear is that which has at least 6 inches brim all around. This hat gives maximum protection against sun. It has been observed that the baseball caps and similar type of hats does not provide any sort of protection to the ears and neck.

In order to have protection from sun, person should make use of sunscreen routinely. Everyday he/she should put on a sunscreen with a sun protection factor of at least 15 even on cloudy days.

Clouds do not protect our skin from the sun damage. Sunscreens only are helpful in these cases. Person should apply sunscreen on every area of the body where the sun’s rays may touch like forehead, face, ears, back of the neck and any bald part on the head.

If a person’s eyes feel irritation to sunscreen then they should use those sunscreen products, which won’t drip into their eyes. Such products are nowadays available in the market.

Hence, we can say that as our skin is the body’s largest organ, so we must take special care to protect it, especial care from the ultraviolet rays of sun.Because the long duration exposure to ultraviolet exposure to ultraviolet rays, is a great threat to Skin Cancer and the earlier the skin cancer is found, the better the chance for a cure.

Along with the protection of skin from sun, person should also be aware of the type of skin he has, that is whether he has oily skin, normal skin dry skin or combination skin. He/she should know, if their skin is sensitive to certain substance or if it is sun-damaged then special care is to be taken. They should also keep their skin properly cleaned by proper washing and use of cleansers.
