Skin Vitamins

Researchers have found since long time that the vitamins affect the skin. Lack of vitamins generally lead to the formation of the lifeless, blotchy, dry or oily skin. In order to have a healthy skin, an individual requires a variety of vitamins like-Vitamin A, Vitamin E, Vitamin C and Vitamin D.

Moreover, citrus fruits and vegetables which contain the simplest form of antioxidants helps to prevent skin damage from free radicals.

Dangerous mutant from pollution, sunlight, etc can break through the membrane cells and thus, leads to inflammation, visible lines and wrinkles. Hence, in such case, vitamin C helps in accelerating skin healing. Vitamin C may pass through the layers of skin and helps to prevent burn or injury.

Vitamin A It helps to maintain the health and regulates the growth of skin cells. Beta-carotene helps to protect the cell membrane and stimulate cell division.

The serious lack of Vitamin A results in the development of dry, rough skin. Synthetic Vitamin A compounds such as tretinoin, applied directly to the skin have been used to treat mottled pigmentation caused by chronic sun exposure. Vitamin A is also known as Retinol.

Vitamin C It is also known s Ascorbic acid. It is essential for the production of collagen. It also helps to provide strong framework for tissue repair and also helps the skin to regenerate. This vitamin has a vital role in healing wounds in the skin. It also helps in preventing scurvy. There is topical Vitamin C available also. It makes the skin appear younger.

Vitamin D Vitamin D is formed in the body and it is considered to be an antioxidant and anticarcinogen. Since, this vitamin can be absorbed by the skin, hence, this vitamin shows very good effect on topical application. Vitamin D is generally synthesized from light. Vitamin D is to toxic in large amounts and so mega doses should not be given.

Vitamin E Vitamin E is an oxidant. It helps to prevent the formation of free radicals, which can lead to skin damaged by sun, and other environmental free radicals. It is used in more and more skin preparations. It helps to protect cells from oxidative damage and wrinkling. Vitamin E is also known as Tocopherol.

Biotin: It is a water soluble B Vitamin. Biotin is necessary for metabolism and growth in humans. It helps in the metabolism of protein, fats and carbohydrates. Healthy skin and nail require Biotin.

Riboflavin (B2): It is a component of coenzymes and is involved in metabolic pathway in the body. Deficiency may produce a defect in collagen synthesis.

Folate : It is necessary for healthy cell division and for protein and DNA synthesis. It also works with Vitamin B12 to produce red blood cells.

Vitain B6 : It plays a role in more than 100 enzyme reactions, including amino acid and essential fatty and metabolism. Vitamin B6 is also known as Pyridoxine.

Mangenese: It is an anti-oxidant nutrient. Manganese is important in the production of energy. It is necessary for the metabolism of Vitamin B1, and E. It helps in the breakdown of fats and cholesterol and also nourishes the nerves and brain.
