Skin discoloration means the change in colour of skin. Normally, everyone loves to have silky, smooth, healthy toned skin.
Causes of Skin Discoloration
The skin discoloration commonly occurs due to Freckles, age spot or pregnancy mask.
They are considered cute by some people. They are in the form of small brown or tan patches commonly seen in individuals with skin, blond or red hair and with blue, green or gray eyes. They freckles generally, increase in number during summer season and fades.
Pregnancy marks :
It is also known as melasma. It is commonly seen during pregnancy. It occurs particularly due to hormonal changes and the individuals with darker skin and more prone to develop this condition. After delivery, some traces of pregnancy mask may skill remain. They can also be seen in women using oral contraceptives.
Age Spots :
They are also known as lentigenis and are very much similar to freckles. They appear later in any skin type.
Symptoms of Skin Discoloration
In case of Freckles, age spots and pregnancy mask, patches are seen in sun-exposed areas like face, hands, chest and back. The patches are due to accumulation of skin pigment melanin produced by the skin. Extra melanin is produced by the body in response to when there is much absorption of ultrasound rays that can be harmful.
Increased melanin production does not allow ultrasound light produced from sun, to penetrate deeper into body tissues but it leads to skin discolouration, which is bad looking. If a person known why the discoloration occurs and haw to prevent and treat it then he/she can have a wonderful smooth, silky skin with a good tonicity maintained in it.
Tretment of Skin Discoloration
As the skin melanin is accumulated in the upper layer of the skin, hence the skin lightening and peeling can be done. For skin lightening and peeling various products are used. Such as Hydroquinone has been a very popular treatment for skin. Kojic acid is also commonly used. It was discovered in Japan in 1989 and a natural product. It is gentle on the skin. It easily penetrates the supper skin layers. Alpha hydroxy acids is also used. It helps to shed the old cells faster. By removing the outer skin cells, it helps to make the freckles and age spots lighter, which by the passage of time fades away.
If a person wants to avoid skin discoloration, then the first and most important steps is to avoid sun exposure and wear sunscreen. If we don’t protect our skin, it will produce it’s own defence mechanism thereby producing more melanin. This will result in much darker skin, which may be very tough to get rid off. It should be kept in mind that the skin discolorations require continuous treatment. Once if lighteners and protection are stopped to use, them the dark patches can again develop. Hence, there is need far a used gentle and effective moisturizers with complete ultraviolet protection.
Natural Remedies for Skin Discoloration
1. Was the face with sour milk? Lactic acid will not irritate the skin and will prevent the drying of skin.
2. Lemon juice is a time proven freckle-fighting remedy. It is rubbed over the skin.
3. Fruit and vegetables masks such as Apricots, strawberries, cucumber, etc.
4. Sour cream mask is also used. After this, the moisturizer is applied.
5. Natural parsley juice mixed with orange juice, or red currant juice, helps in making the freckles invisible.
6. Person should increase the Vitamin C intake. Foods rich in vitamin C include green onions citrus fruits like oranges black and red currant.
