Hyaluronic Acid - The Natural Face Lift

As people grow older, their skin gradually loses some of the skin components that keep it youthful-looking. There skin components are collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid. Skin care treatments using collagen have existed for many years and the products offered are continuously improving. The latest inject able dermal fillers such as hyaluronic acid gel.

Found naturally in the human body, hyaluronic acid is substance that helps to retain moisture in the skin. Hyaluronic acid gel can be injected into the skin to fill-up facial lines and wrinkles, or it can be used for lip enhancement. Restylane, originally developed in Sweden is marketed by Medicis, a leading pharmaceutical company that offers many medicines for skin conditions.

Restylane is a clear, non-animal, biodegradable gel that is based on hyaluronic acid, which occurs naturally in the body. Minute amounts of Restylane are injected into the skin with a needle. The hyluronic acid molecules naturally draw in water and cause the tissue beneath lines and wrinkles to swell. This effectively fills out the wrinkles and gives the skin a smoother surface.

Eventually, the body reabsorbs the additional hyaluronic acid and the effects fade. It is recommended that patients repeat Restylane injections every six to twelve months or as needed. Restylane can also be used for lip enhancement and the benefits have been show to last up to six months. Hyloform is an inject able hyaluronic acid gel produced by Inamed, a leading manufacturer of medical products.

Hylaform gel is a highly purified form of hyaluronic acid, very similar to that found naturally in the body. Because it is pure and derived from non-animal sources, so no skin tests to determine allergic reaction are needed before receiving Hylaform injections.

The effects of Hylaform injections last for about four to six months, at which point further treatment will be needed or the effects diminish. Nylaform is injected just below the surface of the skin, where it draws in moisture and volume to reduce the appearance of facial lines wrinkles.

Captique: This new inject able is a non-animal stabilized hyaluronic acid used for facial line filling and lip enhancement. According to the manufacturer, it does not result in as much brushing or swelling a Restylane.Captique joins the cadre of other facial injectibles sold by Inamed, including Cosmo last, Cosmotron, Hylaform and Halaform plus. Each of these products is specifically tailored for various depth wrinkles of the face and we often use a combination of these facial fillers to achieve the best individual results.

In this case, a dental block or a topical anesthetic is applied for a few minutes prior to injection to help with the discomfort. The product last for up to 6 months. Cosmo last and Zyplast are also use for plumping thinned lips and filling lines around the mouth and other facial grooves or scars.

For patient’s comfort, a topical anesthetic can be applied to the are being injected. A procedure takes less than 10 minutes and results are immediate.

More than one treatment may be necessary to achieve results that can last up to 4 months. Restylane is another FDA –approved injectable for the improvement of wrinkles around the mouth and face. Restylane is hyluronic acid in the form of a crystal-clear gel.
