What is Exfoliation?

It's usually the first step in cleaning your face, followed by using a cleanser, toner and finally, moisturizing Exfoliation is the process of scrubbing off dead skin cells.

It gently and effectively remove dead cells from the skin's surface by mechanical means, thus removing surface debris. Thus it unclogs pores, keeps skin clean and helps reduce acne breakouts. Its most important for bright and glowing and brings an immediate diffference to your skin. Skin exfoliation is suitable for greasy or normal skin, but should be used with caution on dry or sensitive skin

Importance of Exfoliation

After you cleanse your face, you should "exfoliate." This is very much like the process of peeling an onion or removing tiles from a roof. Exfoliating is necessary for getting the blood flowing into the face, as well as for removing grime and dead skin flakes that form daily. Exfoliating encourages the skin to renew itself at a faster rate and brings new skin cells to the skin surface at a faster rate.

When new skin cells rise to the surface of the skin they die and turn to flakes. If these flakes remain on the surface your skin can look oilier, drier, duller and clog the skin pores.  When these flakes are removed the skin looks smoother, cleaner, more radiant and younger

How to Exfoliate
  • Wet the area of skin you want to exfoliate.

  • Apply an exfoliating cleanser to your skin and scrub it using a sponge or a loofah circularly.

  • Take extra care with the sensitive parts of your body.

  • Follow up with a good moisturizer

Good Homemade Tips For Exfoliation

1) For face, use products that are specifically designed for the face. as products designed for your body may be too abrasive and irritating for your face2) Take extra care with the sensitive parts of your body.

3) Take a quick shower or bath (don’t soak) and exfoliate your skin, either with a washcloth or body scrub. Don’t overscrub, but do pay extra attention to your knees, ankles, feet, elbows, and neck.

4) When choosing an exfoliating product, opt for a gentle scrub with synthetic beads, since "natural" ingredients like walnut shells or ground peach pits are often too harsh for skin. You can also go in for lotions containing alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) or retinol

5) Dry skin that’s not particularly sensitive can be exfoliated two or three times a week to get rid of flakes and scaly patches.

6) Women with very sensitive skin or conditions like rosacea, eczema or adult acne should limit exfoliation to once or twice a week
